Whether your home is 100 years old or 1 year old you can participate in our Historic Home Plaques program.
The plaques are made out of sturdy recycled aluminum and are finished with an extremely durable paint. They look like brass but are less expensive to make, yet they are just as durable.
They have a maroon background with gold edge and lettering. This is the only color option. Each plaque is about 13” by 8”. They say “CIRCA” and whatever year you would like on the plaque. The cost of a plaque is $65, which is a donation to L.A.G.H.S.

How do I know when my home was built?
The best way is through tax records. Contact the Lockport Township Tax Assessors office. They will have an approximate year built on their records. For greater accuracy you may want to research the title search on your home.
Where do I place the plaque on my home?
The optimal placement of the plaque: when facing the home, to the right of the front door
What color options do I have for the plaque?
The Plaque is Maroon background with gold edging and lettering. This is the only option available.
What payment forms are accepted?
Payment is cash or check payable to Lockport Area Genealogical Historical Society (L.A.G.H.S). Payment in full is required at the time of order.
How long after I place my order will I receive my plaque?
Orders will take approximately 4 -6 weeks from the time of ordering.
Will my plaque be mailed to me or do I have to pick it up?
The plaque needs to be picked up. You will be notified when your plaque is ready and where it can be picked up.
How old does my home have to be to have a plaque?
There is no age limit on homes. Brand new or 100+ years old.
If I am not a resident of Lockport can I order a plaque?
This program is specifically for Lockport area homes. Other communities may have their own plaques or programs that they are participating in. However, anyone can purchase a plaque.
